Animal Colored Lenses |
The only thing I love more than animals is my daughter. Most of my blog is reposting, but I do have some of my pictures. Mainly from this place called the Wildlife Learning Center in Sylmar, CA where I volunteer. |
This project was actually a custom request from a woman who works with my husband at Cartoon Network Studios on “Adventure Time”. She asked my husband if I could make the character, “Lady Rainicorn” into a scarf for her daughter’s birthday and I agreed.
The scarf was done completely in single crochet with random wool blends from a local craft store. I had an easy time matching colors since my husband works at CNS and lent his advice in my color choices. I began by chaining 255 stitches, then starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, I crocheted along the length of the scarf. Instead of turning, I put 3 single crochets at the end and crocheted along the bottom to form the concentric color rings. At the top of each curve, I increased 3 stitches to turn the curve. Each color has 4 rows. Once I switched to green, I decreased by 3 at the top of each curve. At the end of red, I crocheted the two ends together to close the scarf. This could also be done by sewing the ends together.I wish I could say more about the pattern, but I improvised the whole project.
This project was super fun and I’m glad it’s going to a good home!
This was challenging but super fun!

My dad spied this little guy on a recent trip through the Phoenix botanical gardens. He said he was quite small. After consulting whatbird.com I believe he is a (forgive me for the spelling) feringus pigmy owl. :)
Ants give new meaning to ‘you are what you eat’
These ants can’t ever be self-conscious about what they eat! Their transparent abdomens reflect what they’ve ingested.
Realizing this, photographer and scientist Mohamed Babu captured these amazing images after putting colorful sugar drops in his garden and letting the ants go to town, according to The Daily Mail.
